A Bird On The Foot
BIRDS of paradise are the bright and beautiful inspiration for designer Cleo B’s new footwear collection – exhibited at London Fashion Week last month. Just as the weather gets milder – and we start to think about what shoes we can wear with our summer dresses – her collection conveniently arrives to prey on our shoe weaknesses, showcasing a delicate Swarovski decoration or hand moulded golden garnish.
“Fashion week was a great experience,” Barbour revealed this morning. “It was fantastic to be there and represent my brand. The shoes have the ability to draw people in, due to their bright colours and fresh shapes, so the reaction at fashion week was positive and exhilarating.”
Educated at the prestigious Cordwainer’s college, within London College of Fashion, Cleo Barbour then went on to train at the Salvatore Ferragamo design studio in Florence. Before establishing her eponymous label, Cleo created couture shoes for the Georgina Goodman studio and also played a crucial role in the development of Nicholas Kirkwood’s much acclaimed Avant-Garde collection.
The collection comprises 20 different styles for all occasions – from peep toe wedges and classic courts to shoe boots and cute colourful flats. Dover Street Market snapped up the debut collection and shoe impresario Charlotte Dellal even got in early to place her own order.
